Day 3 and to go....

Well, a defining moment in the lives of the trio... DO NOT RIDE THROUGH THE CITY... what an expirience. Horribly small curbs and dangerously heavy metal rearing down on you with Mcdonalds and Burger King bags strewn throughout the cabs. Today was a good easy day. We went through some really beautiful land, once outside of Cinci. All we had a head of us, once we left Montgomery was just a jaunt in the whole scheme of things to arrive in Harrison Ohio on the border of Ohio and Indiana, and we made it so no worries. Also, sadly we have departed ways with our out of Athens escort, Keith and Erika (see above). They left about an hour or two before our departure at around 5 p.m. Below a beautiful view facing into the setting sun as we prepare to ride down the steepest slope we have ridden thus far. Directly after the picture was taken, an inquisitive old lady across the street stopped cutting the grass for a minute and said, " are you guys going to ride your bicycles down Springdale Rd? That hill is steep.... I would just like you to be careful." Of course we didn't know what to say except "sure...thanks for advice."

A huge thank you goes out to the Sanders; Karla, Bruce and Christine for housing us up for the night.

Miles: 35

Tomorrows destination: Columbus, Indiana by way of 46

The blog is GREAT! Thank you guys for bringing us in on the trip. I know it will be hard to get connected every day...and find the energy. But it's making us armchair biker/travelers feel like we're part of the undertaking so please keep it up when you can.

Hahaha on Dana borrowing a suburban for the last 25 miles, sweeeet relief. I'm sure that won't be the last time we hear about headwinds, but I can't imagine doing the trip west-to-east. Nobody undertakes an epic trip from the Rockies to...Annapolis?!?

The tandem put me in mind of Bronwyn and I trying to do some escort duties out here in Colorado, if things work out right with the house we're trying to buy we just might get our specialized two seater in time. And the kids will take care of themselves. Sure. Oh well, looking forward to seeing you.

Hey Nick,
And all your buds, I am so ecstatic that you are engaging in this cross country adventure. As a Biker Chick myself I know firsthand how freeing, fun and frustrating a trek like this can be. Better you than me!! I plan to check in daily on your progress and please know that if you deviate from your planned route and find yourself in the San Francisco Bay area that you have warm showers, comfy beds and gourmet food with Ken and me. So, have fun, be safe, angels on your shoulders and keep the rubber side down.
Love you bunches,
Aunt Esther
